Indonesia – Archipelago Adventure Where Tradition Is Still Alive

After a month in China, three weeks among the islands of the Philippines and two muddy weeks searching for wildlife in Borneo, we arrived in Indonesia ready for something different. We found it in a country where music, art, food, farming and religion are woven into everyday life—from the sound of gamelan music in Java to the small offerings placed outside homes and shops in Bali.
Indonesia stretches across thousands of islands between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. We would explore only a tiny part of it, traveling from bustling Jakarta across Java to Bali, then east to Flores and the Komodo Islands. We joined an Intrepid small-group tour with eight other travelers for Java and Bali before boarding a wooden boat for four days of island hopping, wonderful snorkeling—and encounters with dragons.
